Matt
Matt is the main character in the book and a protagonist. He is the clone of El patron. He is locked up and abused for a few month. By the age of 14 he already had so many close to death situations. While growing he fell in love with maria.
El patron
He is a evil drug lord that only cares about himself. He makes clones so he can kill them and use there organs to keep him alive. he is 140 years old and one of the riches man in Mexico.
Maria
Maria is the daughter of u.s senator. Maria thinks her mom is dead but she is alive the whole time. Maria is very passionate and loyal. She will stand up to people and say her voice. She is also overly emotional and is likely to meltdown. She forgives people easily like when Matt killed her dog she ended up forgiving him.
Rosa
Rosa is one cruel lady. She jails and tortures Matt for months in poor conditions, which traumatizes Matt and even gives him asthma. Evil and selfish, she blames Matt for ruining her secret romance with the doctor, Willum, which only adds to her meanness. When Matt visits the stables in Chapter 15, he's horrified to find that, because of what she did to him, Rosa has been made an eejit.
Esperanza Mendoza
Esperanza Mendoza is Senator Mendoza's ex-wife and the mother of Emilia and María. She abandons her family, and for two years, María is led to believe that her mother is dead. Of course she isn't dead – just on a mission. A winner of the Nobel Peace Prize, her goal in life is to take down Opium and expose El Patrón's evil system to the world. As a vocal crusader for good, Esperanza definitely has a lot in common with her daughter María. She's so committed and passionate that she can be overbearing and even obnoxious also like María.
Senator Mendoza
Senator Mendoza is a United States Senator and a somewhat associate and ally of El Patrón's. He seems like a halfway decent father to María and Emilia, but he's gotten in too deep with the Alacráns. He's even arranged marriages for his daughters, which will surely keep them stuck in El Patrón's orbit for life. In this sense, Senator Mendoza is a lot like Mr. Alacrán. Both fathers don't, or can't, do much to stop El Patrón from controlling their children, and both of them dislike Matt because of strong, unquestioned prejudices they've inherited from El Patrón's influence.
